It's another trip...

Tomorrow morning we leave for Idaho. It is that time of year again when we get to roadtrip west. It wouldn't be summer without our trek to Idaho. The girls are really excited (they seem to have forgotten the endless hours in the van). I'm happy to say that we are nearly packed up and it is 11:55 pm. Not too bad. I only started at about 8:30 this morning. What I look forward to most about this trip is the time that we spend together and how few distractions there are. I'm not cleaning the house or catching up on laundry or doing one of the many projects that I know I should have gotten accomplished months ago. It is truly quality time - and it forces us to get along and have fun! The girls have always amazed me at their ability to travel - and we will once again put that to the test. The real question is what have we forgotten to pack....?

Our first "camping" trip of the season

This past weekend we ventured up to Wisconsin and spent some time on the river with Charlie's parents. Grandma Lois and Papa Chuck worked really hard getting ready for our (wrecking) crew to arrive. We packed light (but still managed to fill the van). The weather was just right to be out and about, but a little chilly yet to be getting in the water. Katie and Lily still managed to spend some time playing in the water trying to catch different creatures. Elsie and I spent most of the time in the camper away from the mosquitoes and ticks. We did get the chance to venture out for a walk with the front pack and even helped Lily catch her first butterfly! Katie went fishing with Charlie and caught 7 sunfish - she was so excited when Papa fried them up and she got to eat them! Katie and Lily loved playing in the sand, looking for worms, and exploring. The best ending to the trip was stopping at Burnett County Dairy and getting their yummy ice cream cones! They have the best soft serve ice cream that I have ever tasted.
